Job Summary

We are seeking a Electrical Controls & Automation Project Engineer to drive electrical control system design and project execution. This role involves developing automation solutions, integrating PLCs and SCADA systems, and ensuring seamless coordination between hardware and software components. The ideal candidate has a strong background in power distribution, control systems, and electrical automation.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Controls & Automation Design
  • Design and develop electrical control systems, automation solutions, and switchgear configurations.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and PLC/HMI logic.
  • Develop and implement PLC programming, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and automation control strategies.
  • Integrate network communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, fiber optics) for system automation.
  • Specify and select electrical components such as breakers, relays, transformers, and control devices.
  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards.
Project Management & Execution
  • Lead projects from conceptual design through commissioning and final handover.
  • Define project scope, technical requirements, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with procurement and field teams to source materials and maintain project timelines.
  • Maintain schedules, budgets, and quality standards for successful project completion.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide engineering support during system installation, commissioning, and testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve relay protection, PLC, SCADA, and power automation issues.
  • Analyze system performance data and recommend design optimizations for efficiency and reliability.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all designs adhere to industry regulations, client specifications, and safety standards.
  • Assist in developing risk assessments, safety protocols, and testing procedures.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical controls, automation, or power system design.
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of PLC programming, relay coordination, and protection systems.
  • Experience with Siemens, ABB, Eaton, Schneider Electric, and other power system equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various conditions, including heat, cold, and confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward obtaining one.
