Job description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our commercial electrical estimating team. The ideal candidate will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial electrical projects ranging from office buildings and retail spaces to hospitals, schools, and industrial facilities. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in estimating while gaining hands-on experience in the commercial electrical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop electrical cost estimates
  • Quantify materials, labor, and equipment needed for projects using estimating software and Excel
  • Help prepare bid packages, proposals, and documentation for submission
  • Conduct take-offs and assist in creating detailed bills of materials
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and product information
  • Support senior estimators with change order pricing, budget reviews, and cost tracking
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walk-throughs as needed
  • Maintain organized estimate files and documentation
  • Stay informed about industry trends, codes, and pricing standards

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in electrical estimating, construction, or related field (internships or apprenticeships may count)
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, components, and construction practices
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, or ConEst) is a plus
