Job Summary REGISTRAR OF VOTERS Temporary Election Worker Specialist Election Systems Services The County of San Diego Registrar of Voters is seeking Election Worker Specialists to fill temporary employment positions for Election Systems Services for the upcoming November 3rd, 2026, Gubernatorial General Election. We are looking for individuals to scan and adjudicate ballots, organize and shelve ballot boxes, configure and prepare electronic pollbooks, and follow detailed instructions to ensure election processes run smoothly. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and integrity.

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday- Friday May include weekends and extended hours General Skills/ Abilities: Basic desktop computer and printer skills Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions, as well as established policies and procedures Competence in performing repetitive tasks and accurately reading handwritten information Skills in sorting information alphabetically and numerically Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Professionalism and courtesy towards co-workers, other county employees, representatives from external agencies and the public Team player with multitasking skills, patience, flexibility, and integrity Ability to represent the Registrar of Voters in a professional manner Key Responsibilities Operate electronic election equipment (ballot marking devices, ballot scanners, adjudication workstations, electronic poll books, printers) Scan and file ballots Prepare and configure Electronic Poll Books for vote centers Program voter and technician cards, and USB sticks Adjudicate ballots Desirable Traits: Strong work ethic Attention to detail Punctual Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and move between workstations Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Ability to perform repetitive movements: opening mail, researching, typing/writing, filing, sorting, bending, lifting, scanning, stamping, and batching petition sections, etc.

Additional Requirements: Must wear employee badge and access card Must follow all health and safety protocols Must represent the Registrar of Voters in a professional/non-partisan manner Availability to work 10+ hour days, Monday through Sunday, including mandatory weekends and extended hours with little or no advance notice Election Day hours are from 6:30 AM to 12:00 AM Work schedule, start date, and job duration depend on workload and backlog Must be 18 or older Working Conditions Office environment Exposure to computer screens Stand for long periods of time Location: Kearny Mesa office located at: 5600 Overland Ave, San Diego, CA 92123-between 163 and I-15 If there are any questions or concerns regarding the online application process, please contact Human Resources at (619)236-2191 or jobs@sdcounty.ca.gov.
