The EHS Manager for Defense & National Security is responsible for driving EHS program and compliance for multiple sites, primarily focused on manufacturing, lab, testing, and shop safety for the Reno, NV site; additional sites are primarily offices only, so support for these sites will be less complex.
The position reports to the Director of Quality and is part of the Operations department based in Reno, NV. This role is onsite based in Reno, NV.
In this role, the essential functions are:
  • Manage multiple EH&S programs and specialties at the sites
  • Collaborate with Operations and Site Leadership to integrate EH&S performance into business activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate EH&S policies to ensure compliance with legal, Voyager regulations/requirements
  • Support initiatives to enhance the EH&S culture for employees and contractors
  • Oversee regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety standards
  • Analyze EH&S performance indicators and recommend improvements
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions for safety and environmental incidents
  • Conduct and oversee audits and inspections, presenting findings to the management
  • Partner with other Voyager Technologies business units to address EH&S concerns related to facilities and employee practices
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of an EH&S Management System.
  • Facilitate and guide the activities of various EH&S subcommittees
  • Promote a positive EH&S culture across the site
  • Represent EH&S in site and business meetings to discuss performance and improvement plans
  • Develop and deliver EH&S training programs as required by policy or regulation
  • Flexibly support additional EH&S assignments or rotations as needed

Successful Candidates will:
  • Have a minimum of eight (8) years of EH&S experience
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent experience
  • Possess demonstrated management and leadership skills.
  • Have experience in EHS program development, deployment and maintenance.
  • Have experience in developing command media, training programs, and lead compliance for OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Have a strong background in leading incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions for safety and environmental incidents.
  • Have a strong background conducting/leading audits and inspections, presenting findings to the management.
  • Have a strong background in analysis of EH&S performance indicators and capability to recommend improvements.

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with EHS aspects of ordnance and energetics
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Experience working Missile Defense Agency programs with MAP requirements
  • Experience with AS9100 and DCMA standards
  • Demonstrated expertise in lean and six sigma principles
  • Active security clearance

Other Requirements:
  • Travel up to 25%, including the possibility of overnights within the continental US
  • Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds

The good faith base salary rangefor this role is $111,000 to $132,000at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
