Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Field Support Project Manager supporting our Engineering Field Support (EFS) Department located in Poway, CA. (San Diego, California)
Under general supervision with limited review, this position will report to the Process and Metrics Supervisor of the Engineering Field Support (EFS) Department. The Project Manager will be responsible for estimating, planning, and managing all contracting activities that require Engineering Field Support efforts/services. This position will be expected to guide the EFS teams in the proper contract estimation techniques, schedule variance management, KPI tracking/management, and all other EFS contract efforts, in accordance with GA company policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Managing all EFS contract activities and establish a network of all contract PMs with EFS efforts.
  • Organizing all EFS charge numbers and act as the CAM, when required, to issue out WADs to EFS personnel.
  • Provide EFS leadership with current contract statuses and the current burn rate.
  • Work with EFS Managers/Supervisors to understand over/under run causes and work schedule variances with the applicable contracting PM.
  • Coordinate departmental and/or cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering estimates on EFS efforts.
  • Establish new contract kick off meetings with EFS Managers/Supervisors to inform them of the requested EFS efforts/activities, discuss work and hours needed to accomplish, and collect estimate inputs for Project Manager analysis and entry into the estimating system.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present, influence and collaborate at the leadership level.
  • Display eagerness to investigate and the ability to make sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems by effectively weighing risks, uncertainties, and assumptions.
  • Knowledge of GA-ASI organizations, processes, and products preferred, especially Engineering Field Support's.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of best practices and new technologies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least five of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of project management process and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Desire for continuous improvement through training and exposure for future growth to a Program Manager role.
  • Experience/exposure to EVMS processes and tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Must be able to effectively work with multi-disciplined technical and non-technical staff.
