What is an EEG Technologist Trainee?

An EEG Technologist Trainee is an entry-level position where individuals learn to perform electroencephalograms (EEGs) to measure brain activity. Under supervision, trainees assist in preparing patients, operating EEG equipment, and recording brain wave patterns. They gain hands-on experience while studying neurodiagnostic procedures and patient care. This role is typically a step toward becoming a certified EEG Technologist.

What does an EEG Technologist Trainee do?

As an EEG Technologist Trainee, your typical day involves working under the supervision of experienced technologists to set up equipment, prepare patients for EEG procedures, and monitor recordings throughout the test. You may assist with taking patient histories, ensuring proper electrode placement, and maintaining detailed documentation of procedures and observations. The role often includes interacting closely with patients of all ages and collaborating with neurologists and other healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnoses. Over time, you’ll gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting equipment and learning advanced neurodiagnostic techniques, all within a supportive team environment.
