Job Description:
Job Summary
Purdue University Online's instructional design team seeks a dependable student worker to support a large-scale initiative to showcase course content on Purdue's YouTube channel. This role offers hands-on experience with educational technology workflows, video processing, and quality assurance in a higher education environment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Execute a structured, semi-automated process for identifying, downloading, and processing course videos from our Learning Management System (LMS) and video distribution platform
  • Run provided scripts to modify videos and generate metadata and thumbnails for YouTube upload
  • Verify successful video rendering and conduct quality checks on metadata
  • Maintain accurate records of processed courses and any issues encountered
  • Communicate proactively about progress, questions, and roadblocks

Required Qualifications
  • Learning agility: Ability to quickly understand and follow detailed technical processes, even without prior technical experience
  • Attention to detail: Careful verification of outputs and metadata to ensure quality
  • Communication skills: Proactive in asking questions, reporting progress, and escalating issues appropriately
  • Judgment: Ability to distinguish between problems you can troubleshoot independently and those requiring supervisor input

Preferred Qualifictions
  • Prior experience following technical procedures or workflows
  • Basic comfort with digital file management
  • Prior experience running programs in a terminal or working within a Jupyter notebook
