REPORTS TO:

Supervisor of Child Study Team

JOB GOAL:

The Learning Disabilities Teacher- Consultant is a member of the professional staff who bears the responsibility of serving as a member of the Child Study Team (Per NJAC 6A:14-3.1(b) "Child study team members shall include a school psychologist, a learning disabilities teacher-consultant and a school social worker…", as well, as Case Manager, unless otherwise specified by the Superintendent/designee pursuant to the District's Organizational chart, for the purpose of identification, programming and placement of the District's special education students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Have working knowledge of NJAC 6A:14, Special Education and be knowledgeable of special education procedures and procedural safeguard.
  • Maintain compliance in accordance to timelines set forth by NJAC 6A:14.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education, administrative directives, and State and Federal regulations which are appropriate for the position.
  • Serve as liaison among school, parents, referral sources and outside agencies to facilitate communication.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
  • Identify academic and social emotional needs of referred students.
  • Attend and participate in meetings according to mandates.
  • Maintain physical and/or electronic student files.
  • Coordinate the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the IEP.
  • Coordinate the Annual Review and Reevaluation process.
  • Be knowledgeable about the student's educational needs and program.
  • Be responsible for transition planning.
  • Conduct Educational Assessments for classification utilizing tests of achievement; observations; interviews; file reviews; and consultation with staff and Child Study Team members.
  • Interpret assessment results to parents, team members, and staff for the purpose of facilitating instructional and social emotional approaches for the student.
  • Participate in professional meetings and attend workshops designed for professional development
  • Demonstrate competence as a Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant, Case Manager, and Child Study Team member.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/designee pursuant to the District's Organizational chart.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work year- Eleven (11) months; Salary and benefits pursuant to LEA contract.
