Classified . Exempt . Non-Exempt GENERAL SUMMARY: The Upper School TOSA provides in-house instructional coverage and support within a small school environment where every student is known and valued as an individual.

The primary responsibility of this role is serving as the daily on-site substitute for Upper School (grades 6-12) teachers who are absent. On days without coverage needs, the TOSA supports teachers with administrative and instructional tasks. The TOSA upholds the mission and values of OCCA and contributes to our goal that every student in California has access to a high-quality classical education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Uphold a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief of raising good citizens through teaching and fostering moral virtue Serve as the primary in-house substitute for Upper School teacher absences, delivering lesson plans left by the absent teacher and maintaining instructional continuity Manage student behavior and classroom routines consistent with OCCA norms while covering a classroom On non-coverage days, support classroom teachers with administrative tasks (e.g., grading, copying, data entry) and instructional tasks (e.g., small-group support, material prep) Maintain readiness to step into coverage on short notice, including mid-day reassignment Communicate with the Assistant Headmaster regarding daily coverage needs and scheduling Maintain accurate records, including attendance, for any class covered Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify recurring support needs Actively participate in professional development activities Support the mission, vision, and core values of OCCA Perform other related duties as required and assigned QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to quickly adapt to varied subjects, grade levels, and classroom routines Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles Ability and willingness to implement OCCA & Hillsdale K12 Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices Strong classroom management skills across a range of student ages Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction and shifting assignments Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community Computer and internet research skills 2) Minimum educational level: Bachelor's degree Valid California 30-Day Substitute Permit required Valid California Teaching Credential preferred 3) Experience required: 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, substitute, or teaching assistant preferred 4) Physical Demands: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Frequently required to sit, stand, move, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. 5) Work Environment: Normal classroom/school setting
