Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital offers compassionate, high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment for teens, adults, and seniors. We provide a full-range of evidence-based medical and clinical services in a state-of-the-art healing environment.
Programs include inpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
How you'll contribute
The Director of Assessment is responsible for ensuring a comprehensive, clinically sound assessment process and the delivery of high-quality therapeutic care for individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, and psychiatric or emotional conditions. This role oversees all assessment and referral functions, including walk-in and inquiry-based admissions, completion of initial psychiatric assessments, and recommendation of the most appropriate level of care in collaboration with physicians and clinical leadership. The Director supervises and develops assessment staff, manages scheduling and workflow within the assessment department, and ensures accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with patients, families, referral sources, and third-party payors. As a member of the hospital leadership team, the Director of Assessment promotes patient-centered care, operational excellence, and adherence to CMS, Joint Commission, EMTALA, and state regulatory standards while supporting census management and continued growth of referral relationships.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current state license
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling or related field required or licensed degree per state of practice guideline.
    • RN licensure may be used per state of practice guidelines.
  • Previous management experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working in assessment for chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients.
  • Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
  • Current unencumbered clinical social work, counselor or RN license or per state requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using own auto.
  • Basic Life Support certification and Handle with Care is required within 30 days of hire.
