Job description

STEM STUDENT AMBASSADOR
OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE

The STEM Student Ambassador program is a leadership opportunity for students who are dedicated to serving and representing Olive-Harvey College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. The opportunity to lead, organize and plan activities will provide skills which can be utilized in many aspects of the student's professional and academic career. By participation in the STEM Student Ambassadors Program, students will achieve the following goals and objectives:
• The development of team building and communication skills.
• Increased involvement in co-curricular activities and the development of organizational and leadership skills.
• Increased networking contacts within the college community and potential mentorship opportunity.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6-semester hours in pre-credit or credit classes.
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Applicants must have intermediate level of knowledge of computers.
  • Applicants must have an eagerness to learn and can adapt to any situation.
  • Applicants must have customer service skills.
  • Applicants must be a student role model.
  • Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
  • Applicants must be in "good standing" - no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.
  • Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago.
  • All positions are "employment at-will."

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides quality customer service to prospective students through events, campus tours, and other visits.
  • Answers questions that students may have about STEM events.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Attends training sessions as required.
  • Maintains order in the room (no profanity, eating and group projects voices low).
  • Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Excellence Standards.
