Job Summary:
Following established policies and procedures, Pharmacy Intern 1 performs technical, distributive, and administrative duties. This individual may receive, sort, compound, processes and prepares medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist. As the intern progresses, and demonstrates an increase in ability, the preceptor will grant increased responsibility. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Accepted to a doctor of pharmacy program at a degree granting institution or enrolled in their first year of a doctor of pharmacy program at a degree granting institution.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION:
Must complete a competency checklist within three months of completing orientation and training sessions.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Ability to communicate effectively with other health care professionals and patients. Ability to prioritize responsibilities in order to optimize patient care and minimize adverse outcomes.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Application for Wisconsin registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required by hire date and must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Staff hired into this role prior to 3/31/23 must have applied for Wisconsin registration by 3/31/23 and have until 3/31/24 to obtain registration.
