Job description

Overview
The Distribution Specialist I is responsible for ensuring that key Service, Quality and Inventory Accuracy metrics are fullfilled in EO's Central Distribution Center. On the job training will be provided to perform a variety of tasks in up to five (5) essential areas of the warehouse: Receiving, Picking, Packing, Put Away, and Returns.
A Distribution Specialist Level I is expected to perform duties to assist in achieving company goals through inbound receipt of inventory and on-time line fill by preparing shipments for domestic and international customer orders. Through specific job training this individual will be able to perform functions in the warehouse in accordance with the authorized procedures of the Edmund Optics Distribution Center.
This role is 2nd shift, Mon - Fri 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Responsibilities
Must be able to perform one to two main functions as the primary responsibility and be proficient in at least 10% of the duties on the Training Matrix within the first six months. Level I employees are expected to continue to develop and cross train, becoming proficient in at least 25% of the duties on the Training Matrix before being considered for the next level. Individuals must follow all safety rules and procedures, as well as adhere to all company policies.
These functions include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure that orders are picked and packed accurately as indicated on packing slip
  • Complete inventory movements such as receiving, putting inventory on shelves
  • Maintain proper entries in warehouse software program
  • Maintain good housekeeping as required by 6S practices
  • Operate paper fill machine
  • Properly pack items in shipping boxes
  • Assist with packaging products to align with company packaging requirements
  • Demonstrate timeliness, regular attendance, and compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; warehouse experience is not required.
Physical Requirements
Adequate manual dexterity to perform essential functions; ability to use some physical efforts to handle heavy materials, boxes, or equipment (most tasks require no more than 50 lbs. lifting); position requires candidate to be on their feet a large percentage of the time; ability to work in a warehouse environment.

The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

$19.00 - $20.25 per hour
