The Details:
  • Location: West Hollywood, CA
  • Position: Banquet Houseperson
  • Schedule: Part-time, varying shifts
  • Pay Rate: $25.78 non-tip

Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of minimum experience as a server in a full-service restaurant required.
  • Micros knowledge is a plus.
  • Great Customer skills, great Team player, Able to lift up to 30 LBS. able to stand for long periods.
  • Open availability, flexible with moving around within multiple properties.
  • Good Communicator.
  • Must be RBS, TIPS and Food Handlers certified
  • Must be able to lift heavy furniture. available to work early morning and long hours.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace

The Spirit of the Position:
The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for the setup, maintenance, refresh, and breakdown of equipment and event spaces for banquet functions and special events. This position ensures that all banquets, and food service areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained. The Banquet Houseperson also assists with the clearing of linens, trash, glassware, china, silverware, and other event materials, ensuring all event spaces are restored to company standards following each function.
What will I do?
  • Greet and interact with guests and team members in a friendly, professional, and service-oriented manner.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, maintain constant awareness of potential hazards, and promptly report concerns to management.
  • Work collaboratively with the Banquet team to ensure equipment, supplies, and event areas are cleaned and reset in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the Banquet Manager regarding event setup requirements and event-specific details.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain banquet and food service areas before, during, and after events as needed.
  • Assist with moving, arranging, and storing furniture and equipment used for banquet and meeting spaces.
  • Clear and dispose of trash and used event materials, including linens, glassware, china, and silverware.
  • Ensure all event areas are cleaned, organized, and restored to operational standards following each event.
  • Provide support to other departments and team members as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility to work on varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comply with all hotel policies, including appearance and dress code standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with LAZ Hospitality rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities. Employees who violate the rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
Relay any problem situations or damaged areas to Banquet Management in a timely manner for immediate action.
Perform other duties as requested, such as moving office furniture and cleaning carpet and chairs.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum 1 year banquet houseperson experience required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and composure.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and organized.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Read, write, and communicate in fluent English.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs and navigate event spaces safely.
