Our organization also operates in the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, and New Zealand. We have been a global leader in bridal fashion for over 20 years and our designs are currently sold in nearly 1,000 stores worldwide. With innovative designs and a strong customer service approach, Essense of Australia is a dynamic company that rewards excellence, drive, and collaboration.

The Role

Love storytelling? Know how to turn the right words into real impact, whether that’s a pitch to an editor or a moment that resonates with a bride? Keep reading.

The Communications Specialist - PR is a member of the Brand Marketing team, reporting to the Director of Communications. This role sits at the intersection of PR and editorial shaping how our brands show up, sound and connect across every channel.

You’ll lead proactive PR outreach, building relationships with editors and media contacts, developing compelling pitches and securing earned media that elevates brand visibility and credibility. You’ll draft press materials and executive messaging, track coverage and help turn brand moments into headlines. You’ll also support day-to-day social engagement, helping ensure our community experience feels thoughtful, responsive and aligned with our brand voice.

You’ll also play a key role in our editorial content strategy, including writing and editing long-form content, and surfacing trend insights that resonate with brides, retailers and industry insiders. You'll use AI tools to accelerate research, spark ideas, and sharpen your writing, not as a shortcut, but as a thinking partner that helps you move faster and go deeper. Every story should feel intentional, elevated and unmistakably on-brand.

In partnership with the Director of Communications, you’ll support strategic planning across launches, campaigns and events, ensuring our PR and content efforts work together to amplify every moment.

This is a role for a sharp writer, confident pitcher and natural storyteller — someone who is genuinely curious, stays ahead of trends and knows how to leverage every tool available, including AI, to do their best work.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive proactive PR outreach — develop compelling pitches, build relationships with editors and media contacts, and secure earned media placements that elevate brand visibility and credibility.
  • Write and edit press releases, media kits, executive messaging, and editorial content that is intentional, elevated, and unmistakably on-brand.
  • Utilize AI and the latest tools and technology to help you work efficiently while doing your best work.
  • Assist with the editorial content calendar — managing scheduling, writing and editing long-form blog articles, and surfacing trend insights that resonate with brides, retailers, and industry insiders.
  • Write and edit blog posts across topics ranging from bridal trends and style inspiration to industry news and brand storytelling, ensuring every piece reflects our voice and engages our audience.
  • Support community management across our social accounts, including monitoring conversations, responding to comments and DMs, engaging with key accounts, and helping foster a strong, connected brand community.
  • Monitor and track media coverage, compile reporting, and identify opportunities to turn brand moments into headlines.
  • Support strategic communications planning for major collection launches, campaigns, and events in close partnership with the Director of Communications.
  • Collaborate with the Community Management Specialist to identify brand engagement opportunities, partnerships, and activations that extend our story beyond earned media.
  • Stay plugged into the bridal and fashion conversation — tracking industry trends, competitor coverage, and cultural moments to inform timely, relevant pitching.
  • Manage and maintain media lists, press contacts, and outreach documentation to keep PR efforts organized and efficient.

 What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 4 years of communications, PR, or editorial experience — you’ve pitched stories, placed coverage, and written content that actually gets read.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Business, Communications, Marketing, English or related field preferred.
  • A sharp, confident writer with a strong editorial instinct and fluency in AP style.
  • Proven experience building media relationships and securing earned placements across print, digital, and trade outlets.
  • Comfort working on multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A natural storyteller who can translate brand moments into media-worthy narratives.
  • Ability to create and connect meaningful engagements and conversations with audiences on social media.
  • Collaborative by nature and a great team player who is willing to jump in and help with a variety of tasks.
  • Experience in apparel, bridal, fashion, or retail is a plus — but a genuine curiosity about the industry matters more.
