Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced and motivated Discovery Paralegal to join our team. We are looking for the right individual to join our team to assist our Discovery Team with preparing responses to discovery requests, working with various internal resources to identify and collect responsive material and facilitating document production to outside counsel. The position requires the following, but is not limited to:
  • Review and evaluate discovery requests and recommend responses, limitations and objections for attorney review
  • Organize, implement and track discovery plans
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal resources for responsive materials and information
  • Assist with preparation and production of discovery material
  • Facilitate communication with internal attorneys on discovery matters
  • Assist with projects related to eDiscovery, including projects related to improving efficiency of the team
  • Present about eDiscovery to the Legal Divisions, Claims Divisions and other divisions, as necessary.
  • Utilize eDiscovery technology, including attaining high-level knowledge of internal technology and data sources frequently utilized in discovery.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain files and databases, and read and interpret legal documents
  • Must prioritize ongoing projects to meet deadlines
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with various people, including attorneys and other business units such as claims, underwriting and IT
  • Aptitude for and interest in technology, systems and legal operations and processes
