What are EDI solutions?

EDI Solutions, or Electronic Data Interchange Solutions, are systems and services that enable organizations to electronically exchange business documents, such as purchase orders and invoices, in a standardized format. These solutions help automate and streamline communication between business partners, reducing manual data entry, errors, and processing time. By using EDI, companies can improve efficiency, enhance accuracy, and foster better relationships with trading partners.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EDI solutions specialist?

To thrive as an EDI Solutions Specialist, you need expertise in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards, data mapping, and business process analysis, often supported by a degree in information technology or a related field. Familiarity with EDI translators, integration platforms (such as IBM Sterling or SPS Commerce), and knowledge of relevant communication protocols is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help facilitate smooth collaboration between technical teams and business partners. Job description

Solution Analyst
Department: Business Architecture
Reports to: Director, Business Architecture
Partners with: Research & Development, Product Management, Operations
REQUIRED: HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Position Summary
The Solution Analyst operates within Business Architecture organization, acting as the link between business strategy and technical execution. Working closely with R&D, Product Management, and operational stakeholders, this role converts strategic priorities into clearly defined solution requirements, data-driven process designs, and product decisions that support the mission of reshaping healthcare economics.

Reporting to the Director of Business Architecture, the Solution Analyst is expected to approach every engagement with rigor and curiosity - questioning assumptions, uncovering dependencies, and confirming that delivered solutions solve the actual problem at hand.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements from stakeholders across product, operations, clinical, analytics, and technology teams
  • Convert business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for R&D to execute without ambiguity
  • Maintain requirements traceability from concept through implementation, testing, and post-deployment validation
  • Lead requirements review and sign-off sessions to align business sponsors with delivery teams
  • Define non-functional requirements - performance, security, compliance, and interoperability - relevant to healthcare payers
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and R&D/data science teams, confirming delivered solutions meet business intent through UAT and structured feedback

Process Analysis

  • Assess current-state business processes, capturing workflows, handoffs, systems, and data flows
  • Map end-to-end processes using BPMN or swim lane diagrams, and maintain a shared library of process artifacts
  • Identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and automation opportunities, quantifying impact where possible
  • Design future-state processes aligned with business architecture standards and enterprise data models
  • Document process impacts, training needs, and operational handoffs ahead of release to support change readiness

Product Management

  • Partner with Product Management to inform roadmaps using market signals, client feedback, and competitive analysis
  • Prioritize features and backlog items based on business value, effort, risk, and strategic fit
  • Author product intent documents, lean business cases, and requirement specs - including product briefs, feature specs, release notes, and enablement materials
  • Support release planning, launch readiness reviews, and post-release performance tracking against success metrics
  • Represent the client's perspective throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring solutions address real payer, provider, or operational needs
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews) and support proof-of-concept/prototype evaluations
  • Provide business context for R&D estimation, feasibility, and technical trade-off discussions, translating findings for leadership
  • Partner with the Tech Lead to produce the MD file

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience using AI responsibly to drive productivity and efficiency
  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, solution analysis, systems analysis, or product management
  • Proven ability to gather requirements from diverse stakeholders and translate them into engineering-ready artifacts
  • Proficiency with process modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart, or similar) and BPMN or equivalent notation
  • Experience in agile/scrum environments, including backlog tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally
  • Strong written and verbal communication, comfortable moving between executive summaries and technical specs
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and validate hypotheses with data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, EDI 837/835) and code sets (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, CSPO, SAFe POPM, or Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Working SQL knowledge for independent data validation
  • Exposure to enterprise/business architecture frameworks (TOGAF, BIZBOK)
  • Experience contributing to SaaS or platform product development at scale
