A coordinator is the first point of contact, reaching out to all parties who share data on the interchange to resolve issues. You likely need a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and experience working with EDI systems to be successful in this career.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EDI coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EDI Coordinator, you need a solid understanding of electronic data interchange processes, data mapping, and business communication standards, often supported by a degree in information technology or a related field. Familiarity with EDI software platforms (such as Sterling or TrueCommerce), knowledge of ANSI X12 or EDIFACT standards, and experience with ERP systems are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills enable you to resolve issues quickly and liaise between technical teams and business partners. These skills are crucial for ensuring seamless data exchange, minimizing errors, and maintaining strong trading partner relationships.

What are some common challenges an EDI coordinator faces when onboarding new trading partners?
