Job description

Employment Type: Salaried
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Position Summary:

The Sr. MuleSoft Developer / Integration Engineer is a core member of the enterprise integration team, responsible for designing, building, and supporting MuleSoft Anypoint Platform integrations and APIs across ERP, CRM, WMS, and other enterprise systems and data platforms. Approximately 30% of this role is dedicated to the organization's B2B/EDI footprint - onboarding trading partners and maintaining EDI document flows (ANSI X12 and/or EDIFACT) via Anypoint Partner Manager (APM), and troubleshooting EDI-specific issues across AS2, SFTP, and VAN connections. The remainder of the role focuses on general API-led integration development (DataWeave transformations, REST/SOAP APIs, integration patterns) and production support across the broader integration landscape. The successful candidate will balance building new integrations and enhancements with maintaining production reliability through root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and incident resolution. This is a high-visibility role requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to communicate clearly with business stakeholders, trading partners, and cross-functional IT teams.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and own general MuleSoft integration solutions and APIs (API-led connectivity, DataWeave 2.0 transformations, system/process/experience layers) connecting ERP, CRM, WMS, and other enterprise systems and data platforms.
  • Implement integration patterns (synchronous, asynchronous, batch, event-driven), apply API security (OAuth 2.0/JWT), and ensure performance and scalability of integration solutions across the broader integration landscape.
  • EDI Development & Enhancements: Onboard and configure trading partners in Anypoint Partner Manager (APM) - set up partner profiles and agreements, manage EDI identifiers (ISA/GS/ST), define routing rules, configure AS2/SFTP/VAN connections, and develop/extend DataWeave mappings for ANSI X12 (e.g., 850, 810, 856, 855, 997/999) or EDIFACT transaction sets.
  • EDI Production Support: Monitor end-to-end EDI transaction flows via APM dashboards and Anypoint Monitoring; perform root-cause analysis and remediation of schema validation failures, transmission errors (AS2/SFTP/VAN), and acknowledgment (997/999/CONTRL) discrepancies.
  • Provide ongoing production support for the integration runtime (CloudHub/RTF) across the general integration portfolio - incident triage and escalation, performance tuning, log/trace analysis, and post-incident root-cause documentation and corrective action follow-up.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, application teams, and trading partners to gather requirements, define interface and mapping specifications, conduct testing/certification, and maintain reusable integration assets, CI/CD practices, and documentation.
Education and Experience:
  • 5-8 years of hands-on integration development experience, including 3+ years on MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (Mule 4, Anypoint Studio, DataWeave 2.0, API Manager, Runtime Manager/CloudHub or RTF, Exchange).
  • MuleSoft Certified Developer - Level 1 (required) and Level 2 (strongly preferred).
  • MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect - a plus.
  • Experience with VAN providers and EDI gateways (e.g., SPS Commerce, TrueCommerce, OpenText, EDI Gateway, Cleo, iTrade).
  • Experience supporting EDI for retail, supply chain, or manufacturing trading partner ecosystems.
Exposure to ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle Fusion, JDE, Oracle ERP/OIC) as upstream/downstream systems for EDI transactions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or OCI) and containerization/DevOps tooling.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with Anypoint Partner Manager (APM), including trading partner profile setup, B2B agreements, ISA/GS/ST identifier management, routing rule configuration, and transaction tracking/dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience with B2B communication protocols: AS2, SFTP/FTPS, and VAN connectivity, including certificate management and MDN handling for AS2.
  • Experience with integration patterns: synchronous, asynchronous, batch, and event-driven processing, plus error handling and retry/compensation strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
Knowledge and Skills:

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills - able to read logs/traces, isolate root cause across application, transformation, and transport layers, and drive issues to resolution under time pressure.
  • Solid understanding of API design and management: REST and SOAP web services, JSON/XML, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API-led connectivity patterns.
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSI X12 EDI standards (e.g., 850, 810, 856, 855, 997, 999); able to read and apply partner implementation guides and build corresponding DataWeave mappings.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures (on-prem to cloud connectivity), CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and MUnit or equivalent automated testing.

Behavioral / Collaboration Skills:

  • Effective communicator: able to interact with application owners, architects and peers; translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Team-player: collaborates with crossfunctional teams (DevOps, QA, security, operations) and contributes to a shared integration practice.
  • Proactive learner who keeps current with MuleSoft, APM, and EDI ecosystem changes, and identifies opportunities for reuse and process improvement.
  • Quality-oriented and disciplined - adheres to coding standards, documentation, version control, and testing practices.
