SUMMARY OF POSITION
The EDI Specialist is responsible for implementing, managing, and troubleshooting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes that support Nexxta's operations across automotive, industrial, and medical manufacturing customers. This role serves as the primary point of contact for EDI trading partner relationships and ensures seamless, accurate data exchange between Nexxta and its customers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Set up, test, and maintain EDI transaction sets including 850 (Purchase Orders), 856 (ASN), 810 (Invoices), 855 (PO Acknowledgments), 860 (PO Changes), and 997 (Functional Acknowledgments).
  • Monitor daily EDI transactions to ensure successful transmission and receipt; proactively identify and resolve errors.
  • Maintain EDI mapping documentation and ensure all transaction sets meet trading partner specifications.
  • Process EDI transactions in alignment with customer release schedules and shipping requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Nexxta and EDI trading partners including OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Onboard new EDI trading partners from kickoff through go-live, coordinating testing and certification requirements.
  • Maintain accurate trading partner profiles, contact directories, and communication logs.
  • Respond to trading partner inquiries and resolve EDI-related disputes in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with IT and operations teams to integrate EDI data with Nexxta's ERP system.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements that reduce manual data entry and improve data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the IT team on system upgrades, migrations, or changes that affect EDI workflows.
  • Support development and testing of EDI enhancements or new transaction types as business needs evolve.
  • Ensure EDI practices comply with industry standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and customer-specific requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date mapping guides, trading partner agreements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits related to EDI data and transaction records.
  • Adhere to data security and confidentiality requirements consistent with Nexxta's IT and risk management policies.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
Required
  • 3+ years of hands-on EDI experience in a manufacturing, automotive, or supply chain environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSI X12 EDI standards and common transaction sets (850, 856, 810, 855, 860, 997).
  • Experience with EDI translation software and VAN (Value-Added Network) providers.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems with EDI integration - experience with platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve EDI transaction failures independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple trading partners simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for partner-facing and cross-functional coordination.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting automotive OEM customers (e.g., GM, Ford, Stellantis) and familiarity with their EDI compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with medical device or industrial manufacturing EDI requirements.
  • Experience with AS2 or SFTP data communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of SQL or data querying for EDI troubleshooting.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
