Job Description

This position is a hybrid Operator/Programmer role with primary responsibility for machining operations, while also supporting programming activities on the shop floor. The role requires balancing hands-on production work with programming responsibilities driven by business needs.

Key specific responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving production program issues, developing offline CNC programs for critical paths or bottlenecks based on shop floor priorities, and supporting new product introductions and project-related programming activities. The position also focuses on improving programming efficiency to optimize cycle times, increase throughput, and maximize machine utilization.

As a standard requirement, the employee is expected to perform and accurately document manufacturing activities in alignment with company objectives and quality standards. The role demands the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks while adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic production environment.

Responsibilities also include setting up and operating lathes, mills, and CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Utilizes knowledge of shop mathematics, charts and tables. 
  • Trains and assists other CNC set up operators.
  • Works from factory work orders, prints and written or verbal instructions.
  • Notifies supervisor of shop and tooling requirements.
  • Operates CNC machines as assigned and may be required to operate more than one machine simultaneously.

Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm 

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Proficient in metal working.
  • Proficiency in EIA G-code editing and Mazatrol programming/editing is required.
  • Must have proven ability to collaborate within teams and cross-functionally.
  • Associates or technical degree preferred.
  • 3+ years' work experience in manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EdgeCam or Fusion 360 preferred. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office, shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plant.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
  • Must have manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment.
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassigning priorities to complete assignments.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities will vary based upon departmental needs.
  • Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistently by supporting the company's goals.
  • Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.
  • Follow all environmental requirements consistently with supporting the company's environmental performance goals.
  • Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements.
