Process Innovation Engineer - Chemical Manufacturing | Petrochemical Industry

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our team as a Process Innovation Engineer in a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in chemical process engineering, process optimization, and technical support within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry. As a Process Innovation Engineer, you will play a critical role in monitoring unit operations, improving efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing safety, and driving process improvements across our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily technical support and monitoring of chemical process unit operations to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality, increase production capacity, reduce operating costs, and lower emissions
  • Develop, conduct, and evaluate tests for proposed operating changes and process optimization initiatives
  • Investigate and assess the feasibility of implementing new technology, safety recommendations, and planned capacity expansions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional unit teams to prepare annual control budgets, operating reviews, and economic studies
  • Provide technical support for PSM (Process Safety Management), RMP (Risk Management Plan), and other regulatory compliance programs
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, safety concerns, environmental incidents, and quality problems
  • Design and document chemical processes for new product development and process scale-up from development to production
  • Select and specify process equipment and control devices to enhance process control and efficiency
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training for safe operation of new equipment and processes
  • Lead selected engineering projects including planning, coordination, and progress reporting
  • Supervise technicians and coordinate efforts between engineering, maintenance, and production teams
  • Troubleshoot process issues and design improvements to optimize operations and reduce maintenance costs
  • Assist with design and operation of equipment to minimize environmental releases and ensure compliance
  • Maintain awareness of modern technologies and industry best practices in chemical process engineering
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering required
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, or petroleum refining environment strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of chemical processes, unit operations, and process optimization in manufacturing facilities
  • Experience with process safety management (PSM), risk management programs (RMP), and regulatory compliance
  • Strong technical skills in process troubleshooting, economic analysis, and feasibility studies
  • Proven ability to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements
  • Experience with equipment selection, specification, and installation for chemical processes
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse cultural backgrounds, including Japanese-American business environments
