eCommerce Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
With the goal of eCommerce site stability, the Ecommerce Engineer will perform the initial analysis of the incident or request to determine its severity and urgency. This will entail working in an agile environment with a high performing team and quickly responding to dynamic incidents and requirements. Responsible for designing, coding, testing and implementing solutions on time and within budget. This role will specialize in Front End Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Planning
  • Analyze production trends and recurring UI issues to identify opportunities for stability and performance improvements
  • Contribute to automation initiatives (monitoring, alerting, and Lights Out Testing) to reduce manual effort and improve detection
  • Partner with the internal team to align UI enhancements with guest journey expectations
  • Advocate for UI best practices, including accessibility, performance, and modern design standards
  • Support release readiness activities, ensuring UI quality and risk mitigation prior to production deployments
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across UI engineering and support processes
  • Provide feedback into QE and development teams to improve defect quality, test coverage, and production readiness

System Implementation
  • Translate solution designs into working code with minimal oversight from team members
  • Develop and enhance UI components and storefront features across:
    • Spartacus (Angular-based storefront) and/or
    • Hybris Accelerator (JSP-based storefront)
  • Integrate UI with Hybris OCC APIs (REST/JSON) to support seamless data flow
  • Implement responsive, accessible (WCAG), and performant UI solutions
  • Partner with backend teams to align UI components with service contracts and data models (JSON/Schema)
  • Perform unit and integration testing along with perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data integrity
  • Evaluate interrelationships between programs such as whether a change in one part of a program will cause an unwanted result in another part
  • Assist in developing and documenting test cases and testing data requirements and expected results
  • Maintain and update documentation of project code and technical processes following standards that are set by the team

Operational Management
  • Manage the backlog of incidents and requests to be addressed by the support team
  • Enhance existing applications on an as-needed basis and assist in the review of development issues
  • Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Provide day-to-day production support for SAP Commerce storefronts with a focus on UI and guest-facing issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve frontend defects, API integration issues, and performance bottlenecks
  • Perform end-to-end issue tracing across UI, OCC services, and backend systems to determine severity and urgency
  • Participate in incident triage, on-call rotations, and SWAT/command response models as needed
  • Monitor and improve UI performance (page load times, Core Web Vitals, responsiveness)
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent user experience across platforms along with various device compatibility
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and drive permanent fixes to reduce repeat incidents
  • Collaborate closely with Production Support, QE, and Engineering teams to improve release quality and reduce production defects

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. Computer Science/Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience
  • Technical Certification a plus
  • 7 years+ hands-on IT related experience
  • Experience in production support or on-call environments for eCommerce platforms
  • Experience supporting high-traffic, customer-facing applications
  • Experience supporting or developing eCommerce applications, preferably SAP Commerce (Hybris)
  • Strong skills in:
    • HTML/JavaScript/Angular/Nodejs/Grunt/Typescript
    • Angular (or similar front-end frameworks)
  • Experience debugging and supporting UI applications in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Spartacus storefront or Hybris Accelerator (JSP)
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting REST APIs (OCC services)
  • Ecommerce experience (Java, Java Spring, Ant)
  • Strong understanding of JSON / JSON Schema and data handling
  • Experience with Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD (Jenkins)
  • Proven ability to handle numerous projects/priorities using sound development practices to ensure the quality delivery of enterprise solutions, behavior Driven Development experience a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of data structures, data management practices, system interaction patterns and interfaces.
  • Advanced technical troubleshooting, diagnosing and problem-solving skills
  • Exposure to headless commerce and Spartacus implementations
  • Familiarity with SEO considerations and UI performance optimization

The salary range for this opportunity is $88,000 - $135,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
