Live Online Sales Host
Location: Detroit, MI, In Person
Pay: $15.00 per hour

About the Role
The Salvation Army is hiring a full-time Live Online Sales Host to plan, present, and support live eCommerce auction and sales events in Detroit, MI.
This role is a great fit for someone who is energetic, confident on camera, comfortable engaging with online shoppers, and organized enough to support product preparation and order fulfillment after each live event.
As the Live Online Sales Host, you will present products during live broadcasts, interact with shoppers in real time, encourage participation, and help make each event professional, engaging, and successful. You will also support the behind-the-scenes work that keeps live sales running smoothly, including merchandise preparation, inventory organization, packing, shipping, and post-event order reconciliation.
Essential Functions

What You Will Do
Host Live Sales and Auction Events
  • Host live online auction and sales events for 2 to 4 hours at a time
  • Present merchandise clearly, accurately, and professionally
  • Describe product details such as condition, brand, features, value, and any visible flaws
  • Engage with online shoppers through chat and platform tools
  • Answer customer questions in real time
  • Create an upbeat, professional, and entertaining environment that encourages bidding and sales
  • Adjust pacing, presentation style, and product flow based on audience activity and live event performance
  • Maintain a high-energy and customer-focused presence throughout each live event

Prepare Merchandise for Live Events
  • Select and organize merchandise for live sales events based on demand, category performance, and sales strategy
  • Prepare items for on-camera presentation, including staging, sequencing, and organizing products before each event
  • Work with eCommerce team members to confirm pricing, starting bids, product details, and listing accuracy
  • Support inventory organization and tracking for items selected for live sale events
  • Keep merchandise organized before, during, and after live sales events

Support Live Production
  • Operate live selling platforms, streaming tools, and related technology during broadcasts
  • Set up and test equipment before live events
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues during setup or broadcasts
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and visually appealing on-camera presentation area
  • Help ensure live events run smoothly from start to finish

Fulfill Orders After Events
  • Pick, pack, and ship items sold during live events with accuracy and care
  • Package merchandise properly, including fragile or delicate items
  • Generate and apply shipping labels
  • Coordinate outgoing shipments with carriers
  • Complete post-event reconciliation to ensure all sold items are accounted for and processed correctly
  • Maintain organized records of sold items, completed orders, and shipments

Support Daily eCommerce Operations
  • Assist with product handling, staging, and warehouse coordination
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
  • Meet or exceed sales, productivity, and fulfillment expectations
  • Support additional eCommerce operations as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead eCommerce Hub Supervisor

Work Environment
This position works in a mixed office and warehouse setting. The work environment is temperature controlled and includes modern equipment and systems. The role requires teamwork, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to stay focused while supporting both live online sales and order fulfillment operations.
