If so, join our team as an E-commerce Associate at The Costumer.

The Costumer is a 109 year-old, employee-owned costume rental and repair company headquartered in Schenectady, NY. From our Fulfillment Center and brick-and-mortar retail store, we ship costumes, professional makeup, wigs and hair, and props to customers around the world.

In this role, the E-Commerce Associate will be responsible for processing and fulfilling online orders, resolving customer inquiries and issues, and accurately maintaining inventory on Shopify. To be successful in this position, you must have experience managing orders via a Shopify store, excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering top-notch customer service.

The E-Commerce Associate must also be adept at creating and editing product listings to ensure shoppers can find them in our store and on connected sales channels (Google, Shop, AI Agentic sales). They must be able to create, edit, and fulfill orders to ensure customers receive the products/services in a timely manner.

The E-Commerce Associate must have experience with ShipStation (to generate labels and track delivery/returns) and fulfillment center experience to pack and ship products so they arrive in good condition.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Update existing and enter new inventory into Shopify.

  • Process and fulfill online orders in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy by regularly updating and monitoring stock levels.

  • Resolve customer inquiries and issues related to online orders.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing and resolving customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.

  • Monitor and track the status of orders to ensure timely delivery to customers.

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective order processing.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure smooth operations.

  • Utilize and maintain various software systems and tools to process orders and track inventory.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding order status and any potential delays or issues.

  • Continuously review and improve processes to increase efficiency and accuracy in order processing.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.

  • Keep up-to-date with product knowledge and promotions to effectively assist customers.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred.

  • 3+ years experience fulfilling orders and maintaining product inventory on Shopify

  • 1+ years experience packing and shipping orders in a fulfillment center

  • 1+ years experience providing customer service/communicating with customers

  • Fast learner with an Interest in and curiosity about our unique business

  • Shopify selling skills and marketing skills (e.g. using Shopify tools to up-sell)

  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

  • Full-time, hourly position—37.5-40 hours per week.

  • On-site. Must be located in NY Capital Region near Schenectady.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform the job functions.

  • Meet established volume activity standards.

  • Perform repetitive grasping, pinching, squeezing and hand/arm motions while standing/walking the majority of the shift.

  • Lift up to 30 pounds 40% of the time and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.

  • Reach to shoulder level or overhead on occasion while lifting up to 20 lbs. on occasion.
