ECHO Incorporated is seeking an experienced Midwest Power Generation - Regional Field Service Manager with strong technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of diesel-powered generators, welders, light towers, compressors, and other diesel-driven construction equipment commonly found in equipment rental environments. This role supports the Midwest region and will be based at our Lake Zurich, Illinois location. The salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000 based on experience and qualifications.
This role requires up to 50% travel, primarily within the Midwest region.
This is a hybrid position that will offer the flexibility of working from home and on-site at our Lake Zurich facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose issues, resolve problems, and provide technical recommendations to ECHO customers using ECHO-branded generators and welding equipment.
  • Establish and maintain a national network of service centers to support warranty and repair services for ECHO-branded equipment.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships to support the procurement of parts and accessories required for daily service operations.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to support customers with service-related activities and training, as needed.
  • Partner closely with the National Service Manager to communicate and address day-to-day service requirements for national accounts and fleet customers.
  • Identify and report product deficiencies, implement service bulletins, and manage field campaigns, reporting outcomes to ECHO and Yamabiko Corp.
  • Collaborate with the training team to develop and deliver instructional courses on service and maintenance of ECHO-branded equipment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements for portable power generation equipment and welders.
  • Demonstrate equipment operation and clearly communicate features and benefits at customer worksites, including load bank testing when required.
  • Prepare detailed reports of business activities and manage expense accounts in compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with key contacts at each customer location.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve customer issues to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
  • Perform troubleshooting, validation, and performance testing on equipment at the factory to support resolution of field-related issues.
  • Attend trade shows and assist with the set-up and removal of displays.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum (2) years' experience in service or warranty administration.
  • Required background in power generation and diesel engine mechanics; prior experience in a Service Manager or Senior Service role is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals; prepare routine reports and correspondence; and effectively present information to customers and employee groups.
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude, with the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and measurements, and to apply basic algebraic and geometric principles.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to address practical challenges involving multiple variables and limited standardization, and to interpret instructions provided in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule-based formats.
  • Proficiency with computers and business software, including Microsoft Office, for effective communication and data analysis.

Education: Bachelor's degree in technical field or related work experience may substitute for degree.
Travel: This role requires up to 50% travel, primarily within the Midwest region.
