2. Hold or be eligible to hold a Colorado Special Service Provider License with an endorsement in Occupational Therapyย
3. Three years of experience in a school setting, preferredย

Job Summary:ย
Join the Pikes Peak BOCES team that supports special education and related services across nine rural school districts and two separate school programs. PPBOCES is located in Colorado Springs, CO. The school districts we support are in small rural districts in El Paso, Elbert, and Fremont counties, anywhere from 30-60 minutes away from main office.ย Occupational Therapists lead the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the School Occupational Therapy program. Screening, evaluation, educational program and transition planning, therapeutic intervention, and exit planning is provided for students identified with or suspected of having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities or participate in necessary or desired occupations as outlined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Colorado Exceptional Children's Educational Act (ECEA).ย
Duties and Responsibilities:ย
Identification, Evaluation, Planning and Service Deliveryย
1. Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service deliveryย
2. Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on educationally necessary student needs and evaluation results aligned within the scope and role of a school based OT with services following IDEA guidelinesย
3. Participates in multidisciplinary Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop the IEPย
4. Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student access to learning, participation and occupational performance within the school environment.ย
5. Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.ย
6. Documents occupational therapy services within PPBOCES data management system to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.ย
7. Manages inventory of therapeutic equipment and assessments, and project needs for budget planning.ย
8. Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and BOCES policy.ย
9. Provides legal and ethical supervision of occupational therapy assistant assuming responsibility for the students served by assistant.ย
10. Adheres to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.ย
11. Reviews occupational therapy services for quality improvement and makes changes as needed to ensure quality of services.ย
12. Teaches, monitors, and collaborates with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student's occupational performance within the scope of school based services.ย

13. Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision- making in practice.ย
Evaluation:ย
This position shall be evaluated in accordance with the Colorado State Model System for Evaluation of Special Service Providers.ย
Salary, Working Time, Vacation, Etc.:ย ย
This position shall be based on a 179 day calendar assigned by BOCES, with earned leave in accordance with Board policy.ย ย
The salary shall be determined by education and experience in accordance with the BOCES Alt Licensed Salary Schedule. Step 7 Range 60,053-75,709ย ย
Contracts are on an annual basis and are subject to renewal or nonrenewal at the discretion of the Board.ย ย
Working Conditions:ย
- Talking and hearing, walking, standing or bending is frequently requiredย
- Reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping or kneeling is also requiredย
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 poundsย
- Travel to assigned job site(s) requires driving. Employee may be asked to drive to any member district at any time using personal or BOCES vehicle. Mileage Reimbursement in accordance with board policyย
