Job description

  • 401(k) matching

Why This Role Exists
Every week our trucks bring in furniture, tools, electronics, collectibles, sporting goods, and antiques that are too good to landfill. Most of it sells on the Remix Market floor. But a meaningful slice — the rare, the branded, the collectible, the parts-and-pieces items — is worth several times more to a buyer three states away than to a walk-in customer in Elgin.
This role owns that slice. You research it, list it, sell it, and ship it. One person, start to finish.
Research & Recommend
  • Walk incoming loads and the warehouse daily to flag items with online resale potential
  • Pull sold comps to establish realistic market value before an item takes up shelf space
  • Recommend list price and format; the owner approves final pricing and what makes the cut
  • Test, clean, and stage items so they photograph and describe accurately
List
  • Shoot clean, well-lit photos from multiple angles — including every defect, because we don't hide flaws
  • Write accurate, keyword-rich titles and descriptions with correct item specifics
  • Publish 75-150 new listings per week
  • Reprice, relist, and promote aging inventory on a set weekly cadence
Sell & Serve
  • Answer buyer questions within 24 hours, every time
  • Send and negotiate offers to watchers within approved price floors
  • Handle returns, disputes, and not-as-described claims quickly and professionally
  • Protect our seller metrics — Top Rated Seller status is the goal, not a nice-to-have
Ship
  • Pack items so they arrive intact, including oversized and fragile goods
  • Buy and print labels, get freight quotes on large items, schedule pickups
  • Ship within one business day of cleared payment
  • Keep packing supplies stocked and shipping cost per order under target
Track
  • Maintain the bin and location system so any listed item is found on the first try
  • Report weekly on listings published, sell-through, revenue, aged inventory, and what categories are working
  • Reconcile eBay payouts against internal records
What Success Looks Like at 90 Days
Metric Target
New listings per week | 75-150
60-day sell-through rate | 40%+
Handling time | ≤1 business day
Seller rating | 99%+ positive
Monthly eBay gross revenue | $5,000
Aged inventory (>120 days) | Under 15% of active listings
Required
  • 1–3 years selling on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, or in a resale, consignment, or auction environment — personal selling accounts count, bring your feedback score
  • Comfortable researching value on unfamiliar items; you enjoy the hunt
  • Solid written English — your listings and buyer messages are the brand
  • Basic photography skills, or the willingness to learn a repeatable lightbox setup
  • Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work on your feet in a warehouse
  • Valid driver's license
Nice to Have
  • Category depth in antiques, vintage, tools, electronics, audio, sporting goods, or designer goods
  • Experience with eBay Seller Hub bulk tools or listing software (Vendoo, List Perfectly, Crosslist)
  • Freight and LTL shipping for oversized items
  • Photo editing, desktop or mobile
Who Thrives Here
Someone genuinely curious — the kind of person who picks up an unmarked piece of pottery and wants to know what it is. Someone honest about condition, because our reputation is worth more than any single sale. Someone who works steadily without a manager standing behind them, even though the big calls aren't theirs to make.
We operate by three rules: Be fair. Be kind. Tell the truth. That goes for our buyers, our crew, and each other.
What We Offer
  • Paid time off under the company PTO policy
  • Employee discount on Remix Market inventory
  • First look at what comes through the door
  • A business that keeps hundreds of thousands of pounds a year out of landfills — the work matters
  • Real ownership of an operation you'll help build from the ground up
