This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are critical components of the position for Sr. Security Specialist, working closely with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

General

This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position, that will report to the Director of Security and works closely with the Manager of Security, Director of Safety, and Director of Operations. This position interacts with Captains, First Officers, the Airport Services Team, the Commercial Team, and external vendors that provide security at the Company’s field locations. This position may also interact at times with the FAA or DOD. The Sr. Specialist - Security is responsible for providing the support necessary to help ensure that all employees and vendors are adequately knowledgeable of the Company’s security related duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Company’s security related goals. The Sr. Specialist – Security will also act as the Company’s Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) for the DOD, and be responsible along with the Manager of Security to ensure DOD requirements are met, the Company’s Ground Security Coordinators (GSCs) are adequately trained, and may work on Transportation Security Administration (TSA) audits as assigned by/ and as an alternate for the Manager or Director of Security.

  • The Security Specialist 1 will have detailed knowledge and understanding of the security training requirements for flight crews and all employees as spelled out in DOT, FAA, DOD, or Company regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant Aviation field is preferred; High School diploma or equivalent is required
    • Two (2) or more years of experience working in a Flight and/or Airport Operations environment utilizing large turbo aircraft is mandatory; international experience preferred
    • Results-oriented with the ability to balance diverse and dynamic operational requirements
    • Prior experience in airline security or related discipline is preferred
    • Must be able to pass government FSO security training within one (1) year or less
    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities will also include:
      1. Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, and may also include classified information as part of the A-FSO role;
      2. Ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal and electronic means;
      3. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills;
      4. Strong interpersonal skills;
      5. Proficient / Intermediate or better skills in MS PowerPoint, Excel and MS Office Suite;
      6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
      7. Ability to work under minimal supervision; exercises independent good judgment, appropriate discretion, and takes initiative;
      8. Self‑motivated and independent problem‑solving ability;
      9. Ability to travel out of state if needed.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre‑employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC)
