Description

Percheron is looking for an experience mineral acquisition agent within driving distance of Fairmont or Morgantown WV area.

The purpose of this position is to perform land-related activities for oil and gas exploration and development, including, but not limited to, oil and gas leasing, mineral purchasing, title curative, well-staking, waterline and well line easement acquisition, and ingress/egress at drilling locations. Must be within 60 miles of Fairmont, WV.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for researching, negotiating, and acquiring land agreements for oil and gas exploration, production and development that meet the organization's goals.
  • Search for and determines various land ownership interests, including, but not limited to, mineral ownership and the locations of such owners.
  • Work within the parameters set by the client insofar as negotiation terms.
  • Draft contracts are required to satisfy client requirements.
  • Prepare adequate daily activity reports and special landman reports relative to complex negotiations, damage settlements, and/or title curative instruments. May work in the office or in the field.
  • Perform internal and external due diligence to ensure accuracy and completeness of land rights or to identify and bring forward deficiencies requiring remedial action.
  • Serve as liaison with landowner on ownership, rights, damage claims and access issues.
  • Effectively use established company and client policies, procedures, and processes to perform work.
  • Maintain up-to-date status with Project Manager or client to ensure the assignment is completed following the client's procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of related professional sales/business experience or a degree in Energy Land Management is required.
  • Good understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, procedures, terminology, and real property acquisition policies and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of various land-related contracts and agreements.
  • Proficient in utilizing MS Office products and databases, performing online research, and reading and understanding maps.
  • Ability to plan and organize workload, adjust to changing priorities, and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently, plan and adhere to a schedule, and report progress timely.
  • Must be ethical and honest in dealings with landowners, clients, and the company.
  • Must be proficient in understanding conveyance of real property.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be customer-focused.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with others.
  • Exercise good judgment and has experience handling confidential information.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Association of Professional Landmen (โ€œAAPLโ€).
  • Ability to work autonomously and to collaborate fully as a team player.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and working overtime if warranted).
  • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations and the Company's policies and procedures.
Work Environmental and Physical Demands
  • Spends 40% of the time in a remote office environment and 60% traveling in the field.
  • Is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
