A Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) is responsible for maintaining a vessel's position and heading using a computerized DP system. They monitor and control thrusters, propellers, and other positioning mechanisms to ensure stability, often in offshore operations like oil rigs, subsea construction, and cable laying. DPOs must follow strict safety protocols and respond to system alarms or failures. Certification and specialized training are required to operate DP systems effectively.
Dynamic Positioning Operators often navigate high-pressure situations, such as maintaining vessel stability during challenging weather or heavy marine traffic. They must rapidly assess fluctuating data and respond swiftly to equipment faults or system alarms to prevent incidents. Collaboration with bridge officers, engineers, and offshore teams is crucial, as is staying vigilant and alert for extended watch periods. Cyclone is seeking skilled operators to join one of our crews on various construction job sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy machinery (loaders, rollers, scrapers, dozers, track hoe, etc.).
