Zayo’s communications infrastructure solutions include dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access. Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.

Zayo is seeking a Service Delivery Design and Engineering III position to be responsible for the deployment and implementation of Optical card adds and cross connect verification and possibly channel adds. This qualified individual will remotely implement and work with our Field service teams to verify their work in the field. The Service Delivery Design and Engineering III will provide technical support of the network and provide analysis of network issues on all platforms as required.  This role is expected to be mentored by our highly skilled Tier III experienced technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Install equipment required to install and test new services including SONET SDH, Fiber Channel GbE, and others.

  • Communicate with internal and external customers, as well as assist other technicians with troubleshooting and technical questions regarding circuit operation and installation.

  • Maintain and follow documented guidelines for upgrading, implementing, and removing facilities within a transport network.

  • Partner with the other teams within the Network Control Center (NCC) to monitor the proper operation of network equipment 24X7.

  • Minimal travel required (less than 10%)  

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four (4) years telecommunications experience with an understanding of SONET, SDH, and DWDM.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Basic understanding of all protocols provisioned (GbE, SONET, Fiber Channel, and others.)

  • Knowledge of equipment commissioning and provisioning across multiple platforms.

  • Basic knowledge with the following  vendor equipment:

    • Infinera (DTNX, DTC,ATC, MTC, TNX, G30, G40, 3000)

    • Ciena (6500, 5200, 4200, 3500, CPL)

    • Ciena (formerly Cyan) (Z77,Z33,Z22)

    • Nokia 1830

  • Familiarity with the following systems preferable:

    • Netcool

    • Salesforce

    • Metasolv

  • Strong interpersonal skills to support management, negotiation, and problem-solving functions of this role.

  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines in high pressure scenarios. 

  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.

Estimated Base Salary Range: $64,600 - $86,100 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
