Job description

Durability Test Driver
Dearborn, MI
Technical Professionals Group (TPG) is searching for a professional Test Driver to perform designed test routes on public roads conducting prescribed known and unknown deficiencies during testing of intended vehicle failures. Additionally, will make observations of vehicle performance, ride, quality, and component failures. Records observations in logs or electronic data systems as requested. Works under the general direction of the Project Manager and/or receive direction from the TPG Account Manager (where applicable).
Job duties:
  • Track specific vehicle maneuvers identified by the Vehicle Test Engineer while capturing test data.
  • Verify the maneuvers were conducted properly, accurate data was captured, and provide feedback comparing system performance against requirements.
  • Follow instructions according to pre-determined routes/instructions.
  • Provide a written summary to include the vehicle driven, number miles driven, hours driven, and project number supported at a minimum for each test drive (when applicable).
  • Support the Vehicle Test Technician team with troubleshooting data logging, maneuver, and testing issues.

Ideal candidate:
  • A high school diploma or GED certificate. A valid Driver's License (Chauffer's Preferred, but not required). Must be able to safely maneuver and operate all types of motor vehicles.
  • Must have the physical and mental dexterity to handle all driving within proving grounds environment.
  • Coordination of normal mental dexterity and visual attention. Must have good vision, hearing and motor skills.
  • Requires mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time in conditions that could include temperature extremes and wet conditions.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Must demonstrate good team skills, and the ability to work with and learn from others.

Schedule:
1st shift: 4am-12:30pm
2nd shift: 2pm-10pm
Weekends: 4am-12:30pm
Education, Certifications and Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • A clean motor vehicle driving record is necessary.
  • Must complete customer specific driver/data logging evaluation.

Important considerations:
  • Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free and successfully pass drug screening prior to employment.
  • Prolonged routine sitting for 2 or more hours with the requirement to lift at least 25 lbs.
