Emergency Department Technician I - Duke University Hospital (Durham, NC)  

 
The Duke University Hospital Emergency Department includes 81 beds (Adult, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Fast Track, Triage, and Resuscitation areas) and provides fastpaced, highacuity care. ED Techs support patient care under the direction of a nurse and play a key role in patient flow and safety.
Schedule
Fulltime only
Three 12hour day or midshift shifts per week
Key Responsibilities
Perform basic life support interventions (airway, breathing, circulation)
Assist with stabilization, transport, and patient movement
Support communication between patients, families, and ED staff
Perform EKGs, vital signs, specimen labeling, and hourly rounding
Assist with patient care needs and comfort measures
Required Skills & Abilities
Ability to perform all Nurse Aide I tasks
Heavy lifting and patient transport
Ability to work in a fastpaced, highstress environment
Strong prioritization and selfmotivation
Ability to care for patients across the lifespan
Competency in hazmat/decontamination procedures (training provided)
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Completion of NCA I training or North Carolina EMT training
Current listing as NCA I or EMT with no substantiated findings
BLS required
Related experience preferred but not required
