As theManager, General Maintenance, you will oversee a team within Facilities Management that focuses on a facilities management service delivery area. You will plan, resource, coordinate, and supervise all activities required in your assigned area, while working effectively and collaboratively with other managers to ensure efficient facility and utility maintenance and delivery for the Duke campus community.
Minimum Qualifications Education

Work generally requires a 2-Year Facilities Management related degree. Generally requires a license, where applicable.

Experience

Requires eight years direct facilities management operations experience. Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

You will:
  • Manage, supervise, and coordinate facilities management services for the Campus community
  • Develop and implement processes for accurate and timely work distribution to staff
  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with work processes and key metrics
  • Regularly evaluate work output for quality, efficiency, and timeliness, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Prepare regular reports and analyses to monitor progress, identify unfavorable trends, and offer strategic recommendations
  • Assist in determining fiscal requirements and preparing the departmental budget
  • Monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures
  • Develop strong working relationships with Union leadership and staff (where applicable)
  • Maintain regular communication and positive relationships with faculty and staff from various University departments
  • Participate in Facilities Management Department (FMD) emergency preparedness planning and emergency response activities as required
  • Manage personnel actions, including hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, disciplinary actions, transfers, and vacation schedules
  • Train employees in proper processes and procedures, addressing deficiencies through effective training methods
  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning equipment, tools, and processes to improve operating efficiency and workplace safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Department leadership

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $62,694.00 to USD $107,633.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
