Language Producers are the bridge between Netflix’s global content ambitions and the on-the-ground, in-market reality. They sit close to our members: in-region, speaking the language, understanding the culture, and translating data into meaningful, market-specific decisions. The Language Producer for Global English Content Localization is accountable for how members experience English-language localized audio, timed text, and marketing assets, ensuring Netflix customers across the globe get the highest-quality, most culturally resonant English localization — what a great time to join Netflix!

The Language Producer is a Content Localization expert accountable for language and partner health across English-language assets — the main liaison between Netflix and local dubbing, timed-text, and marketing localization vendors, and the execution arm of our partner strategy. This role is the first line of contact for local partners, focused on quality at scale rather than exhaustive title-by-title supervision. Success is measured by the health of the language and partner ecosystem, the role stewards, not by how many titles it personally touches.

This is a 60/40 role: roughly 60% of the time is spent strengthening the local partner ecosystem — vendor relationships, talent pipelines, training, and feedback loops — and 40% is spent on direct, tiered engagement with a curated slate of high-priority titles and assets. Partners are the first line of defense on execution; the Language Producer trains, aligns, and trusts them to meet Netflix’s quality bar, and steps in directly where judgment moves the needle most (in-market popularity, language expansion, new formats, or systemic quality signals). This is a demanding, fast-moving position that requires someone who can hold a strategic, ecosystem-level view while getting as tactical as necessary to deliver content, working across all components of English localization — dubbing, timed text, and marketing — alongside in-territory and cross-functional teams.

• Own the local relationship with English dubbing studios, timed-text and DL/PLDL vendors, and talent partners — run recurring tactical syncs and quarterly strategic reviews grounded in performance data, escalating global strategy, vetting, and contract matters to Global Resource Management (GRM).
• Train, align, and support partners so they can consistently meet Netflix’s quality bar without relying on constant internal review; partners own day-to-day execution, and self-QC and local expertise are the default.
• Build and grow talent pipelines and databases for English-language dubbing and audio description; identify casting gaps (mature voices, diverse casting, new AD narrators, niche genres) and design or sponsor initiatives with GRM to close them, monitoring progress against milestones.
• Collaborate with partners on dubbing talent casting and mix reviews for select titles, while enforcing adherence to creative guidelines across all dubbed titles; look for opportunities to improve efficiency and innovation in budget, scheduling, and vendor mix.
• Closely monitor union/guild activity, market rates, and the competitive landscape that could influence pricing, capacity, or general market behavior.
• Act as a local integrator of partner and quality data and elevate critical local issues for visibility, even when the ultimate resolution sits with Legal or Public Policy.

• Apply a tiered support model across every asset type: engage directly (Touch) on the highest-priority titles for the market — roughly the top tier by in-market popularity, language expansion, or strategic slate — and rely on data and partner escalation (Analysis) for the rest of the slate.
• Import assets (audio and timed text): for Touch titles, own material review (locked cut, context, terminology), creative and operational alignment with partners before work starts (casting, creative approach, scheduling), and creative review of final assets — including a pre-delivery watchdown of secondary audio and targeted timed-text QC — to validate outcomes and extract learnings that improve the wider ecosystem.
• Same-language and pivot assets (OL forced narratives, SDH, PLDL/DL, English pivot templates): steward partner workflows and standards; align on the creative approach, terminology, and quality expectations for Touch titles; and use QC reports and spot checks to diagnose and address systemic gaps across the rest of the slate.
• Main Title / Episode Title localization: own translation approval and oversight of vendor-suggested titles for Touch titles in English-speaking markets, and serve as the escalation point for linguistic questions on English MT/ET more broadly.
• Marketing materials: conduct post-launch quality review of primary trailers for Touch titles; serve as an escalation point — not a systematic approver — for non-AV marketing assets like copy and taglines, in line with a predictable, ecosystem-focused workload.
• Define standards of creative excellence and general creative guidelines for the market; conduct risk assessments for special upstream localization requests; and analyze content and language performance trends to address localization challenges in collaboration with Title Producers.

• Own and maintain language-specific style guides and creative guidelines (Timed Text Style Guides, Audio Description and DL/PLDL Style Guides, Creative Excellence Guidelines), keeping them current, accessible, and reflective of real production workflows.
• Use guidelines as a primary tool for partner training, performance feedback, and quality interventions, and feed back learnings from title-level work to evolve them with new formats and workflows.

• Diagnose language health using metrics, QC/TQ signals, and member feedback; translate findings into a market-level strategy — where quality is strong versus where systemic intervention or training is needed.
• Track vendor performance over time to inform smart routing, training priorities, and vendor-mix decisions, with the goal of reducing reliance on third-party QC as partner quality matures.

• Stay current on how technology — ASR, machine translation, TQ models, and automation — is reshaping the localization process, and help define “fit-for-purpose” quality standards by format and tier as the company’s strategy develops.
• Act as subject matter expert for localization workflows in English, supporting the Dubbing Strategy and Innovation roadmap and Netflix’s tooling ecosystem to drive vendor adoption.
• Participate in tests and quality control of lip sync, VO, machine translation, and core asset roll-outs; feed structured feedback back to Strategy & Innovation (S&I) and algorithm teams rather than treating model outputs as a black box.

• Initiate, support, and collaborate with cross-functional partners on Inclusion and Diversity initiatives to keep strategy consistent across the organization.
• Be sensitive to the local competitive landscape and maintain a working knowledge of localization contracts and local best practices between talent and Netflix’s vendors.

• A minimum of 5–10 years of dubbing and/or timed-text title/language management experience (creative and operations).
• Based in Los Angeles, CA, with a willingness to travel internationally and the flexibility to work across time zones to support a globally distributed team.
• Ability to inspire trust and build teams while representing Netflix professionally to partners.
• Curiosity about innovation and the ability to adapt to new technologies and processes, including automation and AI-driven quality tooling.
• Comfort reading and questioning data and dashboards (QC/TQ metrics, partner ratings) to drive decisions — this does not require a data science background, but does require the ability to connect metrics to member experience and turn them into vendor action.
• A strong understanding of localization workflows and pipelines, including real-time workflows, and the ability to execute titles at various points of production (development through delivery).
• Experience navigating complex vendor relationships, including difficult conversations about quality, accountability, and automation.
• Highly analytical, able to identify root causes and propose changes to existing workflows; adept at writing, facilitating, and presenting analyses.
• Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) English-language localization contracts, union/guild dynamics, and local market best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent, relevant work experience.
• Native fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in another language is beneficial.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $193,000.00 - $329,000.00.
