Job Description
AHRC NYC is seeking young adults (18-24yrs. old) to join their Advance & Earn (A&E) Direct Support Professional (DSP) program. The A&E program is a PAID Internship Program for NYC Youths (18-24) who are looking to become DSP's. DSP's provide vital assistance and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This Paid Internship program prepares NYC youth for a rewarding career as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). Internships are available in all 5 boroughs.
ENROLL NOW for the Fall Program which runs from September 2nd, 2025 through January 16th 2026
Classroom Locations:
Lower Manhattan at 83 Maiden Lane
Staten Island at 25 Victory Blvd, 3rd Floor
PROGRAM PROVIDES:
• 20 weeks of high-level training with mentorship from industry leaders.
• Paid Internships at $18 per hour, Monday-Friday 15-25 hrs./wk. for up to 250 hours, in one of the top Non-Profit agencies in the field
• Nationally Recognized Certification from the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP)
• Job placement assistance
Daily Lunch and Metro card
• Assistance in accessing necessary services and benefits
• In-person, small group sessions with individualized attention
• Counseling and social/emotional support

Qualifications
  • Must be between the ages of 18-24 years old
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must live in any of the five boroughs of New York City
  • Must be out of school and have no post-secondary degree (Associates or above)
  • Must be unemployed, or work less than 25 hours per week
  • Are legally authorized to work in the United States
