Job description

Position Overview

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations for DSA-regulated or public works construction projects from start through completion. This role manages jobsite activities, coordinates subcontractors, and ensures projects are built safely, on schedule, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has experience leading construction teams on DSA or public sector projects, including schools, municipal facilities, or other government-funded developments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day field operations for DSA or public works construction projects.

  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure work progresses according to the project schedule.

  • Maintain a safe jobsite and enforce company and OSHA safety standards.

  • Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and documentation required for DSA or public works compliance.

  • Work closely with Project Managers to monitor project progress, scheduling, and field productivity.

  • Lead jobsite meetings and maintain clear communication with subcontractors and project teams.

  • Review drawings and identify potential conflicts or field issues before they impact the schedule.

  • Maintain daily jobsite reports, schedules, and documentation.

  • Manage punch list completion and oversee project closeout activities.


Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of experience working as a Superintendent for a general contractor.

  • Experience managing DSA-regulated projects or public works construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.

  • Experience coordinating multiple trades and managing subcontractor performance.

  • Knowledge of DSA inspection processes, documentation, and compliance requirements is preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage project schedules and maintain jobsite productivity.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on K-12 schools, higher education facilities, or municipal construction projects.

  • Familiarity with public works contracting and prevailing wage requirements.

  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.

  • Ability to effectively lead teams and manage complex construction schedules.
