Overview

An established commercial drywall contractor with over four decades of presence in the Phoenix Valley is seeking an experienced Drywall Estimator to join its Tempe-based team. The company is known for its long-standing industry relationships, high-volume bidding, and a practical, results-oriented culture. This is a chance to work alongside seasoned construction professionals in a fast-paced environment focused on quality, accountability, and delivery.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong estimating background in commercial drywall and metal framing who thrives in a no-frills, highly productive team. The company offers a stable pipeline of projects and the potential to step into a lead estimator track for the right candidate.

The Role

This position is a hands-on estimating role responsible for preparing detailed bids for commercial drywall, framing, and paint scopes ranging from $500K to $6M. Success in this role means confidently managing multiple bid deadlines, delivering accurate takeoffs using OST and QuickBid, and helping drive a consistent pipeline of awarded work.

The role is based 95% in-office and interfaces with both internal teams and external clients. While not required, candidates with leadership aspirations may step into a Lead Estimator role over time.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial drywall, framing, and paint scopes

  • Review and interpret construction drawings and project specifications

  • Respond to bid invitations via online platforms

  • Work within OST and QuickBid software to prepare competitive, accurate estimates

  • Handle multiple bids at once while meeting tight deadlines

  • Collaborate with project management and field teams to align scopes and budgets

  • Support handoff processes and contribute to business development through high-quality bidding

  • Participate in hands-on estimating assessments during the interview process

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • 10โ€“15 yearsโ€™ experience in commercial drywall and framing estimating

  • Proven track record estimating mid- to large-scale projects ($500K to $5โ€“6M)

  • Strong proficiency in OST and QuickBid (minimum 5 yearsโ€™ experience)

  • Ability to contribute to annual sales targets of $4โ€“6 million in bid volume

  • Strong understanding of construction documents, scope reviews, and cost structures

  • Comfortable working in a non-corporate, high-output environment

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

Nice to Have:

  • Previous field experience in drywall or framing

  • Leadership capabilities or prior experience managing an estimating team

Salary
  • Base Salary: $105,000โ€“$115,000

  • Total Compensation: $120,000โ€“$130,000 (includes performance-based bonuses)

  • Lead Estimator Level: $125,000โ€“$140,000 with added performance bonus potential
