How to get drywall contracts?

To secure drywall contracts, drywall delivery professionals should build relationships with contractors and construction companies, demonstrate reliability and timely delivery, and maintain a professional reputation. Having knowledge of construction schedules, proper handling of materials, and relevant certifications can also improve chances of obtaining contracts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Drywall Delivery position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Drywall Delivery professional, you need good physical strength, a valid driver's license (often CDL for larger trucks), and experience handling construction materials safely. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, forklifts, pallet jacks, and basic inventory software is also valuable. Dependability, attention to detail, and good communication skills help ensure timely and accurate deliveries while working closely with customers and onsite crews. These abilities are essential for maintaining safety, efficiency, and strong professional relationships in a physically demanding logistics environment.

Where do drywallers make the most money?

Drywallers tend to earn higher wages in regions with a strong construction industry and high demand for skilled labor, such as areas experiencing significant commercial or residential development. Factors like experience, certifications, and working for unionized companies can also influence earning potential, with some markets offering premium pay for specialized skills or overtime work.

Is drywall delivery hard?

Drywall delivery as a job involves lifting and transporting large, heavy sheets, often requiring physical strength and proper handling to prevent damage. It can be physically demanding and may involve working in various weather conditions, but it generally does not require specialized skills beyond safe lifting practices and punctuality.

What are the typical daily responsibilities for someone in a Drywall Delivery role?

Drywall Delivery team members typically start their day by reviewing delivery schedules, loading drywall and related materials onto trucks using proper safety equipment, and verifying that loads meet order specifications. Throughout the day, they drive to various construction sites, unload materials safely, and obtain required signatures or documentation from site supervisors. They may also assist in organizing inventory, performing basic truck maintenance checks, and communicating with dispatch or customers to resolve any delivery issues. This role often requires adapting to changing weather, tight deadlines, and different delivery locations, making reliability and flexibility important qualities for success.

What is a Drywall Delivery job?

A Drywall Delivery job involves transporting and delivering drywall and related materials to construction sites, homes, or businesses. Workers in this role load, unload, and sometimes assist in placing the drywall at the job site. It requires physical strength, attention to safety, and the ability to operate delivery equipment such as forklifts or boom trucks. Some positions may also involve customer service and inventory management.

What delivery gig pays the most?

For drywall delivery, pay rates vary based on location, company, and experience, but generally, delivery gigs that involve large or specialized materials tend to pay higher. Contractors or independent drivers with their own trucks and equipment often earn more due to higher per-delivery rates and tips. Skilled drivers with commercial licenses and efficient routes can maximize earnings in this field.

Job description

About Us
Reframe Systems is on a mission to build net-zero carbon housing for all, at massive scale. To achieve our mission, we need to make net-zero carbon housing more affordable and we are re-imagining how housing is designed and built. Our modular building platform and highly-automated production system will drive down cost, delivery time, and embodied carbon for ADUs and multifamily housing. We are setting up our first software driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA), and have a roadmap to scale our presence nationally. We are disrupting assembly line manufacturing for housing production and are backed by leading VC firms in the industrial and construction space.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a skilled Drywall Hanger to join our factory team and play a critical role in producing high-quality modular housing components. This role is responsible for measuring, cutting, and securely fastening drywall panels to wall and ceiling framing in a controlled manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong experience hanging drywall efficiently and accurately, with a commitment to tight seams, clean cuts, and production-grade quality.
Responsibilities
  • Measure, mark, and cut drywall panels to fit walls, ceilings, and openings around windows, doors, outlets, and other penetrations.
  • Lift, position, and securely fasten drywall panels to wood or metal framing using screw guns, ensuring proper fastener spacing and depth.
  • Stagger and align seams to minimize finishing work and maximize structural integrity.
  • Install drywall on ceilings using lifts or with a partner, maintaining level and plumb surfaces.
  • Cut openings accurately for electrical boxes, HVAC penetrations, plumbing, and fixtures.
  • Inspect framing prior to hanging to identify issues that would affect fit or finish, and flag them to supervisors.
  • Verify panel selection (thickness, fire-rated, moisture-resistant, sound-rated) matches specifications for each application.
  • Collaborate with framers, finishers, and other trades to maintain production schedules and handoff standards.
  • Communicate with supervisors to address challenges and improve workflow.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store tools and equipment.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience hanging drywall, preferably in manufacturing or construction.
  • Proficiency with measuring, cutting, and fastening techniques that produce tight seams and minimize finishing rework.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used in drywall hanging (e.g., screw guns, utility knives, rasps, T-squares, routers, drywall lifts).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds (including sheets of drywall), and working overhead or on ladders for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.

Working Conditions
  • Factory environment with exposure to construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Physical tasks, including standing, lifting, and performing repetitive movements.
  • Some overtime or weekend work may be required based on production schedules.

Why Join Us?
At Reframe Systems, you'll contribute to an innovative and mission-driven company that is transforming housing construction. Your work will help deliver net-zero modular housing at scale, addressing critical challenges in housing and climate. We value precision, craftsmanship, and teamwork in everything we do.
