Your day as a Dryer Operator
As a new Dryer Operator at Barrett Petfood, you can expect a hands-on role with daily responsibilities focused on the safe and efficient operation of drying equipment. Your day will involve monitoring drying processes, adjusting equipment settings, and ensuring optimal product quality. You'll be responsible for conducting routine inspections and troubleshooting any issues that may arise, working collaboratively with your team to maintain productivity.
Available shifts are Monday thru Friday 2PM-1030PM or Monday thru Friday 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, allowing for a consistent work-life balance.
  • Start Dryer, verify airlocks & switches are on and vibe bed is plugged in
  • Test kibble every 15 minutes using the Foss Machine (grinds the kibble down to a powder) to take samples and record results
  • Conduct paperwork for moisture, temp, & lot information in Plex (ERP system)
  • Make dryer adjustments if the kibble is not in spec
  • Aerate totes if moisture is out of range & notify cooling room
  • Communicate often with maintenance, quality, and extruder operators
  • Conduct cleaning daily

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
