Position Summary

Operatesย furnaces,ย dryersย and associated equipment toย operateย dryers,ย andย heat thermalย oilย toย maintainย safe operating temperatures for press and wax systems.ย ย Operates dryers and associated equipment to provide a sufficient quantity of flakes, achievingย correct moisture content toย ensureย continuous operation of the press line.ย 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Starts up, shuts down, and operates the drying system equipment from wet flake storage bins to dry flake storage bins by monitoring dryer control room instruments.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by notifying appropriate personnel when any equipment deficiencies are noted.ย 
  • Directs and monitorsย dryer assistantย in performance of dutiesย requiredย toย maintainย safe and efficient operation of dryers.ย 
  • Maintainsย safeย and clean working environment byย complying withย procedures, rules, and regulations.ย 
  • Monitors RTOs andย ESPย operationย and documents any excursionsย and corrective actionsย during shift.ย 
  • Monitors press whenย operatorย is out of room.ย 
  • Inspects and monitorsย FlamExย system (fire detection).ย 
  • Documentsย actions by completing quality and production logs, charts, and reports.ย 
  • Categorizes and enters downtime reasons, verifying time and all other data in the downtime reports.ย 
  • Directs maintenance and production personnel to equipment location for troubleshooting, during upset conditions, etc.ย 
  • Responsible for proper test-startย verification,ย when LOTO is being performed on equipment.ย 
  • Maintain operations by reading, interpreting, and applying complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating Procedures and other written instructions.ย ย 
  • Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordinationย 
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.ย 
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
  • Highย schoolย diploma or GEDย 

  • 5+ย yearsย ofย manufacturingย experienceย preferredย 

  • Experience with HMI's, data entering, and troubleshootingย by use of charts andย trends preferredย 

  • Experience monitoring data trends and charts to make informed decisions about quality and production rates preferredย 

  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays per shift scheduleย
