Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician supports the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of prescription medications under the direct or remote supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position involves providing excellent customer service, maintaining regulatory compliance, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring patients receive timely and accurate prescriptions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Demonstrates meticulous accuracy to prevent medication errors.
  2. The ability to clearly and effectively communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  3. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  4. A genuine concern for patient well-being and the ability to work with people who are ill or in distress.
  5. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and point-of-sale operations, preferred DRX. 
  6. Proficient in medical terminology, pharmacy calculations, and brand/generic drug names.
  7. Skilled at adjudicating prescription claims and troubleshooting prescription insurance issues (e.g., commercial, private, AHCCCS, Medicare Part D, and sliding fee scale).
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. An active and in good standing Arizona Pharmacy Technician license. 
  3. Active, in-good-standing national certification (e.g., PTCB, ExCPT) must be maintained throughout employment.
  4. Must have at least 1,000 hours of experience working as a pharmacy technician in an outpatient setting under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Standard Employment Requirements:

  1. Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if the applicant is from out of state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the past five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
  2. Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the first ninety (90) calendar days of employment and maintain a valid card for the duration of employment with NATIVE HEALTH.
  3. Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  4. Must provide an up-to-date immunization (IZ) record upon employment.
  5. Must have a current Tuberculosis (TB) skin test report within the past 12 months upon employment and provide an annual update.
  6. Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 calendar days of employment and maintain certification during employment.
