Job description

We are looking to augment our team with an experienced Senior Drupal Developer for a full website redesign and CMS migration to Drupal 10, hosted on Acquia Cloud. This 9-month project will involve significant content migrations and coordination with NYS ITS and Acquia, with ongoing support thereafter. The project focuses on accessibility, structured content, and high-performance, serving a public sector client.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain custom Drupal modules using PHP and Drupal APIs to meet project requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to Drupal content migrations, including using the Migrate API and handling complex content transformations.
  • Collaborate on front-end theming using Twig, with a primary focus on back-end development.
  • Integrate forms, data tools, and third-party APIs into the Drupal platform.
  • Work with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Acquia tools, to ensure seamless development and deployment.
  • Ensure the site meets accessibility standards (WCAG) and adheres to structured content guidelines.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges related to performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members, including project managers and front-end developers, to ensure the overall success of the project.
  • Contribute to project documentation and reporting.

Qualifications:
  • 5-8+ years of Drupal development experience, with strong skills in custom module development and Drupal APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with Drupal migrations, including content transformation using the Migrate API.
  • Familiarity with front-end theming in Drupal (Twig), though the role will primarily focus on back-end development.
  • Proven experience integrating forms, data tools, and third-party APIs into Drupal.
  • Proficiency in Git-based workflows and CI/CD processes (Acquia preferred).
  • Experience working with accessibility standards (WCAG) and structured content requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Familiarity with large-scale content migrations (preferably 1000+ pages).
  • Previous experience in state or government Drupal projects is a plus.
  • Acquia certification or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.

Desirable Experience:
  • Experience working on large-scale Drupal projects, particularly in the public sector.
  • Strong understanding of Drupal performance optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of Acquia Cloud hosting and deployment pipelines.
