Job Summary

Aretum is seeking a Mid-Level Drupal Developer. The Mid-level Drupal Developer serves as a technical owner for front-end development and content layer delivery within the Drupal environment. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user-facing Drupal functionality, including content types, menus, information architecture, responsive design, and homepage and landing page layouts. The developer works closely with customer staff to design and enhance digital experiences using user experience (UX) best practices while ensuring content presentation aligns with organizational objectives.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Work with staff to supplement development, design, testing, and enhancement efforts in the Agency’s Drupal content management system.
  • Create new and/or update existing Drupal content types.
  • Updates relating to the menu or information architecture that drives the menu creation.
  • Update the Drupal environment to ensure optimal site performance and integrate with existing third-party tools (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Create and maintain user roles and permissions, as well as workflows or portions of workflows.
  • Use customer requirements to integrate modules into the Drupal environment.
  • Implementation of responsive design layout for tablet and mobile viewing.
  • Evaluate and address website accessibility issues in compliance with established accessibility standards and regulations.
  • Provide quality assurance based on functional and automated testing for performance and integrations.
  • Work with staff to design and/or update existing designs of the home page, landing pages, and other content types, utilizing user experience best practices to maximize all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the website.
  • Conduct maintenance activities as necessary, including but not limited to implementing application-level security patches and addressing application vulnerabilities.
  • Complete minor/major Drupal CMS upgrades, as required.
  • Provide technical documentation for developed solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering).
  • 5+ years of experience in Drupal Development.
  • Experience with module development and customization (views, rules, custom core configuration).
  • Experience with theming (twig templating engine and development) and understanding of web design principles.
  • Strong understanding of Drupal APIs (Hooks, Services, Events).
  • Back-end experience with MySQL/Maria DB, query optimization Drupal’s entity system.
  • Front end experience i.e., HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design.
  • Experience with version control tools and repositories such as Git and GitHub.
  • Understanding of Agile and DevSecOps.
  • Experience participating on project teams.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Highly organized.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the federal government.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and compliance regulations.
Travel Requirements

This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may berequiredbased on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions.Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
