Job description


This position will be posted from July 6, 2026 to July 17, 2026 by 4:00 pm.
Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and a background check.
DRPA and PATCO are subject to federal law, under which marijuana continues to be illegal.
Must be able to pass Toll Collector test.
Position Purpose
Collects toll at the facilities of the Authority and is responsible for Authority funds and accountability of such funds.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Authority will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations in assessing an employee's ability to carry out or otherwise meet the job requirements set forth herein in a satisfactory manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Collects tolls and is accountable for correct financial transactions.
    2. Promotes good job relationships and extends courtesy to DRPA patrons under all circumstances
    3. Reports toll violations and unusual situations and malfunctions of equipment to the Plaza Supervisor and cooperates with DRPA Public Safety as required.
    4. Responsible for complying with DRPA Polices, Rules and Regulations.
    5. Collects toll accurately, efficiently and courteously while maintaining good public relations at all times.
    6. Makes change and issues receipts to motorists.
    7. Separates scrip, coin and bills into proper denominations for deposit
    8. Answers questions and gives directions to patrons in a courteous and efficient manner.
    9. Maintains neatness in attire and maintenance of items issued.
    10. Reports any abnormalities to Plaza Supervisor or DRPA Public Safety.
    11. May be assigned to one of the three toll shifts.
    12. May be required to work at other bridge facilities.
    13. May be required to work overtime.
    14. Assists Plaza Supervisor as needed.
    15. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
Required:
  • 12 Years General Education or GED.
  • Must pass written examination which requires proficiency in basic math, written and verbal skills.
  • Must pass required physical examination.
  • Must pass criminal history background and reference checks.

Desired:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service role, with a proven ability to handle customer inquiries, resolve issues efficiently, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • At least two (2) years of experience handling cash or financial transactions in a professional setting.
