Job description

POSITION SUMMARY Under close supervision, transports elderly and disabled residents from homes to scheduled appointments or locations in a safe, timely manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Transports elderly and disabled residents from homes to scheduled appointments or locations in a safe, timely manner. Secures wheelchairs or mobility aids, assists passengers entering or exiting a vehicle and escorts to location door.

Inspects and cleans vehicles prior to and after shifts. Completes paperwork of daily routes and documents incidents while on duty. Collects, counts, cancels and files coupons for each trip.

Maintains fuel in vehicle. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to use cell phones, tablets and computers. Knowledge of customer service techniques and methods. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, Town and Department policies and procedures.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Skill in safely operating Town vehicles. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A High School diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Class D Arizona driver license upon the first day of employment.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Must be able to lift or move over twenty-five (25) pounds.

Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is considered a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing as required by FTA CFR 49. The Town of Oro Valley is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
