Job Overview: This part-time role involves safely transporting students to and from school on a scheduled route, as well as driving for occasional field trips and extracurricular events. The ideal candidate is punctual, safety-conscious, and enjoys working with children.
As a member of the Gateway OneTeam, you will support and demonstrate an understanding of the church's mission: living the Jesus-centered mission. Key qualifications include possessing a character that reflects biblical godliness, demonstrating a meaningful, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and active involvement in a local body of Christian believers.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Operate a private charter bus on assigned routes and schedules.
  • Pick up and drop off students at designated stops in a safe and timely manner.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Ensure the safety of all students during transport, including enforcing rules and monitoring behavior.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the bus.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Follow all traffic laws, district policies, and state/federal transportation regulations.
  • Complete required reports, such as attendance logs, maintenance reports, and incident reports.
  • Be available for occasional field trips and special school events outside regular route hours.

Qualifications
  • Valid (or ability to obtain) Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsements.
  • According to Washington State law, the required minimum age is 21.
  • Current CPR certifications.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.
  • Prior experience driving a school bus or similar vehicle is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage student behavior respectfully and professionally.
  • Must pass a physical exam and drug screening as required by state law.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday, typically early morning and afternoon hours (split shifts).
  • Additional hours as needed for field trips or extracurricular activities.
