Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Telemetry Unit position requiring 2 years of telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Hospital-based Telemetry unit with 36 rooms and average daily census of 35
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Common diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No call requirements
- 14-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skills in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and oxygen administration
- IV therapy skills including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care
- Experience with cardiac drips and heparin protocols
- Wound care and insulin drip management experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry monitoring and care for patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions
- Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum 7 days of RTO per contract
- RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling during the assignment: work all if 1-2 holidays occur, or 2 of 3 if three holidays occur
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous employees must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
- Returning travelers who were previously unable to complete an assignment must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before rebooking
