Quality Assurance Inspector

This position will be located at ACE Controls, Inc., a Stabilus company, located in Farmington Hills, MI. ACE is the internationally recognized expert in the field of industrial damping technology. The company’s portfolio now includes automation control, motion control, vibration control and safety products.

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Inspector will ensure that all products meet quality standards. The successful candidate will have the authority and responsibility to inspect incoming materials, component parts, subassemblies or finished product to determine the extent of conformance to engineering blueprints.

Essential Job Functions

  • Read and interpret mechanical prints.
  • Set-up and operate precision equipment to inspect and/or test parts or finished goods to determine the extent of conformance to Engineering specifications.
  • Perform first piece inspection and assist Machine Operators with the proper gauging techniques to maintain part specifications.
  • Perform receiving inspection on raw materials and product component parts.
  • Document discrepancies detected during inspection and communicate findings, both verbally and in writing, to concerned parties.
  • Record resultant findings onto an inspection report.
  • Create and maintain component part history files.
  • Authorize the transfer of materials while handling the secondary process of routable components.
  • Assist in meeting the inspection requirements for other areas.
  • Perform interdepartmental communications and assist with supplier communication regarding part disposition.
  • Assist with the gage calibration program, when requested.
  • Participate in a team manner using experience and knowledge in the Products Groups as necessary to accomplish the agenda created by the Facilitator for the Product Group criteria.


Education, Training, Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience is required.
  • Experience dealing with quality inspection and reporting.
  • Experience reading blueprints and a variety of quality inspection tools.
  • Experience operating machines such as presses, grinders, and lathes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, mechanical prints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Perform process audits on production lines.
  • Collect and analyze daily scrap. Provide production team root cause tools to solve quality issues.
  • Contact suppliers when we are rejecting non-conforming material found during incoming inspection.
